SILK PAINTINGS…original paintings on silk instead of canvas, wrap-stretched (mounted on stretcher bars) and suitable for framing or hanging on a wall as-is. These collections demonstrate my focus on the rhythm and energy of color, markings and spontaneous expression. These paintings also explore the layers of the “self”, and how our quest for something quieter and more contemplative comes up against the nature of our busy lives. Some paintings include mixed media elements.
Varying widely in style and palette, these paintings are presented in vertical, horizontal and square collections.
The paintings are very lightweight, which is a consideration in some parts of the world over beds or sitting areas. A layer of flannel underlies the silk to create a robust and non-transparent surface that will be durable in non-direct sunlight.
