Project Description

My Message in a Bottle series goes abstract. The delight of hot colors against such a cool backdrop both calms and sparks the senses!

Part of the Message in a Bottle series, which explores the themes of connection, isolation and healing as inspired by 100 letters written in 1918-1919 by a grandfather I never met. (see below)

Mixed media on wood panel, incorporating acrylic, graphite, and letters and words from a grandfather written to his wife (my grandmother)   during WWI.

This series was inspired by a line from a letter penned in September 1918, when my grandfather suggested that my grandmother counteract her lonesomeness and worry with a mental ‘remedy’ in which she should think only of the day they would be together again.  It was, he said, how he was coping.
